A coalition of youth groups across Lagos State has endorsed Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as their preferred candidate for the Lagos State governorship race in 2027.
The endorsement, announced during a gathering of community leaders, youth representatives, and civil society organizations, highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s achievements in business and philanthropy as key reasons for their support.
Speaking at the event, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos Chapter President, Adebayo Johnson, described Seyi Tinubu as a visionary leader capable of driving youth-centric policies and fostering economic growth in the state.
“Lagos needs a fresh perspective, and we believe Seyi Tinubu, with his proven track record of excellence in entrepreneurship and youth empowerment, is the right person to take Lagos to greater heights,” Johnson said.
The endorsement has sparked conversations about the role of younger candidates in Nigerian politics, with supporters citing Seyi’s work in job creation and community development as aligning with the aspirations of the state’s burgeoning youth population.
Seyi Tinubu has yet to formally declare his intention to run for office but has consistently been a prominent figure in public engagements and philanthropic activities in Lagos, further fueling speculation about his political ambitions.
While the youth endorsement has been met with enthusiasm from his supporters, it has also drawn mixed reactions, with critics questioning the implications of dynastic politics in Nigeria.
As 2027 approaches, the call for more youth involvement in governance is growing louder, positioning figures like Seyi Tinubu at the forefront of conversations about the future of Lagos State.
