Suleja Residents Block Abuja-Kaduna Expressway & Set Police Outpost on Fire Over Abduction of Six By Gunmen
The residents of Angwan-wazobia community in Tafa Local Government Area Suleja, Niger state were attacked by gunmen who abducted six people at the early hours of Monday the 24th of May 2021.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, gave the confirmation in a statement issued in Minna on Monday.
Mr Abiodun stated that the incident took place on May 24, at about 3:00am. He also said, however, that a team of policemen had been mobilised to the area and all efforts are in play to rescue the kidnapped victims.
He, also said that at about 6:40am, some disgruntled residents barricaded both sides of Abuja – Kaduna highway protesting the recent cases of kidnapping in the community.
The protest was then extended to a Police outpost in Gauraka which they vandalised and set it ablaze.
The PPRO, stated that all efforts to disperse the protesters was ongoing and a number of reinforcement had been dispatched from Minna to the Area Command in Suleja.
The Command called on members of the public, parents/guardians and community leaders to caution their wards against public disturbances as the Command would continue the onslaught against criminal elements in the society.
He added that a joint task force was established in Minna – Suleja highway to restore normalcy on the highway.
