Chelsea legend, John Terry, stated that playing against Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Okocha in the English Premier League was always difficult.

Terry who was answering our correspondent’s question at the press conference to announce Budweiser Game of Kings said both players exhibited an uncommon flair which was difficult was difficult for defenders to mark.

The former England captain said both players exhibited skills reminiscent of Brazilian players, which was hard for defenders in the EPL.

“One of the first Nigerians I against was Kanu, he had this way he used to drag the ball. As a defender, you always knew what he would do, but he was always very difficult to mark, you wouldn’t know who to stop him. Just like Brazilians, Nigerian players are very skillful, unlike English players.

“Kanu and Okocha were some of the most skillful players in the English Premier League, they played with flair and were difficult to stop,” Terry told PUNCH Sports Extra.

Terry is in Nigeria alongside Real Madrid legend, Roberto Carlos, for the Budweiser Game of Kings.

The game will see both stars play in two different teams — Kings FC and Smooth FC with selected players from the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Both teams will be coached by fans who were selected after an audition process.

The game will be played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Saturday (today).
