Armed bandits, on Monday, March 1 attacked Amarawa village in Ilela local government area of Sokoto state and killed ten persons while others sustained injuries.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the village on motorbikes and kidnapped a wealthy businessman but the villagers tried to free him.
The gunmen had warned the locals to stay away but they refused and attempted to free the man. This led to a struggle with the attackers killing many including one man identified as Rabiu Mika Ilu before whisking the businessman away.
Meanwhile, the dead have been buried while those who sustained gunshots were in the hospital where doctors removed bullets from their bodies.
