Brazil seem to have overtaken Russia as the second most hit country with coronavirus as cases surpass 330,000 following the US.
The country’s health officials have lamented that the hospitals are overwhelmed by the pandemic as cases skyrocket. A CNN reporter said the country might experience a peak of the ongoing pandemic in a week or two and the citizens are now terrified.
The deadly virus also poses a threat to some of Brazil’s poorest communities where people live in clusters and poor hygiene conditions.
A health worker in the country lamented that many people usually get tested when they were already in critical condition which makes the treatment and subsequent recovery a tedious and sometimes impossible task.
Brazil has recorded over 330,000 positive cases of Covid19 with a death toll surpassing 20,000 making it the highest in South America.
