Desert Locusts Invades India

Gurugram, India is currently dealing with a plague of locusts.

The locusts invasion got so bad that officials told residents on Saturday to close their windows and bang utensils to discourage the swarms of pests.

Pilots at Delhi’s international airport, which is close by Gurugram where some of the world’s top corporations are headquartered were told to take extra precautions when taking off and landing because of the grasshopper-like critters.

India’s locust outbreak is one of the worst in decades. Officials have broken out specialist vehicles, fire engines and helicopters to spray insecticides in at least seven populous states in the north, center and west of the country.
