Donald Trump has fired back at The Wall Street Journal after the publication suggested he “declared premature victory” in Ira

The criticism came from an opinion piece by the paper’s editorial board, which warned that Iran remains a threat in the region particularly around the strategic Strait of Hormuz and could still possess enriched uranium.

In response, Trump took to Truth Social to dismiss the claim, branding the Journal’s editorial board as “one of the worst and most inaccurate in the world.” He insisted his actions were decisive, stating: “It is a victory, and there’s nothing premature about it.”

Trump doubled down on his stance, declaring that Iran would never obtain nuclear weapons under his watch. He also predicted that global oil supply would stabilize soon, regardless of Iran’s involvement, adding that the Journal would “eat their words.”

Addressing concerns raised in the editorial, Trump warned Iran against reportedly imposing fees on oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. “They better not be and if they are, they better stop now,” he said, accusing Tehran of failing to uphold agreements on free passage.

The Journal, however, maintained its position, stressing that freedom of navigation has long been a cornerstone of U.S. policy. The board argued that allowing Iran to control access through the Strait would signal a strategic defeat and could embolden other global powers.

It also criticized Trump’s approach to the conflict, pointing to what it described as inconsistent messaging shifting between declarations of victory and threats of escalation which it said has fueled uncertainty both domestically and internationally.

The editorial further claimed that Iran’s reported ten-point plan falls far short of Trump’s stated demands, setting the stage for a potential standoff.

Meanwhile, Trump recently announced a two-week ceasefire agreement with Tehran, reportedly brokered with the help of Pakistan. As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts, Vice President JD Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff are expected to travel to Islamabad to begin negotiations.
