Donald Trump Unapologetically Snubs Biden’s Inauguration

Donald Trump was the first president not to attend his successor’s inauguration since 1869.

He left the White House at about 08:00 (13:00 GMT) on Wednesday, and flew to the nearby Andrews Air Force base where he had his Farwell Ceremony.

In his farewell address at the base, he highlighted what he regarded as the successes of his presidency. “What we’ve done has been amazing by any standard,” Mr Trump said.

In his last hours as president, Donald Trump granted clemency to more than 140 people, including his former adviser Steve Bannon, who had been facing fraud charges.

The Inauguration Day snub of the Biden’s comes on the heels of a series of broken norms and childish behavior that comes directly from the President of the United States, who has been vocal about his disinterest in preserving any semblance of decency towards his successor.

Also, former First Lady, Melania Trump, has not reached out to the Wife of the President, Jill Biden dashing expectations she would continue the passing along of hospitality to her successor, hosting her for a tour in the white house as did Michelle Obama and other outgoing first ladies.
Even after contentious election cycles, first ladies and Presidents have set aside hard feelings and ego, no matter how bruised to carry out hand-over duties and traditions until now.
