Federal government arraigns Sowore, four others in court
The Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday January 4, arraigned a former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and four others at the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year’s Eve in Abuja.
Sowore and the four others are being arraigned on 3-count charges of Criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others against the government.
The SaharaReporters publisher and the four others all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile, a former presidential candidate in the last general elections, Kingsley Moghalu, has asked the government to release Sowore, saying that engaging in protest is his right as a Nigerian.
