Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, 78, has been hospitalized after developing a fever, his former deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena, announced on Monday. Clinton is currently undergoing tests at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
In a statement posted on X, Urena assured the public that the former president is in good spirits and expressed gratitude for the excellent care he is receiving. “President Clinton is doing fine and remains in good spirits. He deeply appreciates the medical team’s efforts and hopes to be home in time for Christmas,” Urena said.
The hospitalization was described as precautionary, with reports confirming it is “not an emergency situation.”
Clinton has faced health challenges in the past. In 2021, he was hospitalized after a urological infection spread to his bloodstream. He also underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2004 and had a procedure to open an artery six years later.
The former president, who served two terms from 1993 to 2001, remains active in public life. He addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago earlier this year and campaigned ahead of November’s elections for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential bid.
