Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has issued a strong warning to individuals or groups illegally holding government properties, urging them to return the assets immediately or face serious repercussions.
In a decisive statement, the governor condemned the unauthorized sale and acquisition of government assets and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reclaiming properties that rightfully belong to the state.
Mutfwang announced plans to establish a dedicated task force to investigate and recover government properties that have been illegally sold or occupied.
“Let me declare that very soon, we will establish a task force to recover all government properties currently in illegal possession or occupation across the state and beyond,” the governor stated.
He further issued a direct warning:
“Anyone in possession of government property acquired illegally should surrender it now before we come for them. Equally, anyone involved in the unauthorized sale of government property will be uncovered and severely punished. It is only a matter of time before we catch up with such individuals.”
The governor also highlighted the issue of fraudulent Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os), assuring that perpetrators would not escape justice. He emphasized that the grace period for voluntary surrender of such documents would be limited.
“We will investigate and deal decisively with those holding illegal C of Os. A grace period will be given for voluntary surrender. However, if we have to come after you, the resources spent on the recovery process will not go in vain – you will bear the full cost,” Mutfwang said.
The move has been widely regarded as a strong stance against corruption and mismanagement of state resources, signaling a new era of accountability in Plateau State.
