In response to the ongoing fuel price hike, the Lagos State Government has announced an extension of its work-from-home policy for public servants for an additional three months. This decision was made by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and communicated through a circular signed by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro, on September 4.
The policy, which was initially introduced on February 28, allowed public servants on grade levels 01 to 14 to work from home for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 could work remotely for one day each week. The goal was to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal on public servants.
According to the circular, the policy has yielded positive results, with increased productivity across various ministries, departments, and agencies. As a result, Governor Sanwo-Olu has decided to extend the work-from-home arrangement for another three months.
This extension aims to continue providing relief to public servants who are struggling with the high cost of transportation due to the fuel price hike. By allowing them to work from home, the government hopes to reduce the financial burden on its employees and maintain productivity levels.
The Lagos State Government’s decision to extend the work-from-home policy is a welcome move, as it demonstrates the administration’s commitment to supporting its employees during challenging times.
