15th annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Hip Hop Awards for 2020 took place on Tuesday night, October 27, with Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch and Travis Scott among the artists who took home gongs.

Due to coronavirus pandemic,  BET aired the 2020 edition of their annual hip-hop awards on BET Her, VH1 and MTV2 to celebrate some of the biggest artistes, songs, and music videos.

The annual award show was hosted by 85 South‘s Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean. There were also performances from big stars including Big Sean, Jhene Aiko, 2 Chainz and Quavo.

Rapper DaBaby went into the award with 12 nominations. Roddy Ricch was behind him with 11 while Drake and Megan Thee Stallion both earned eight nominations respectively.

However, the biggest winner of the night was Megan Thee Stallion as she took home three awards including the revered Hip Hop Artist of the Year trophy.

Snoop Dogg also made an appearance to present Master P with the I Am Hip Hop Award.

The live-stream featured show-stopping performances, including a powerful duet between Burna Boy and Coldplay’s Chris Martin of their track ‘Monsters You Made’.

Chris sang remotely as the rapper called for the end to police brutality with the emotional performance.

Burna Boy’s backing band donned #StopPoliceBrutality t-shirts as footage from protests aired on a giant screen. They also raised their hands in solidarity and paid tribute to Nigerians who have lost their lives to SARS.

The event also saw performances from Lil Baby and City Girls, and ended with a speech by Democratic vice presidential nominee, Senator Kamala Harris, on the importance of voting in the upcoming November 3 presidential election.
