Speaking at the Abuja Business and Investment Summit, Wike emphasized that the government can’t function without funds, contrary to the notion that it doesn’t need money ¹.
Wike’s statement was made during the maiden edition of the summit, organized by the Abuja Investment Company Limited. He highlighted the importance of partnerships in fostering investment opportunities, resonating with the Federal Government’s drive for collaboration ¹.
The former Rivers State governor also cited examples of failed government partnerships with the private sector, stressing that the government won’t continue to invest billions of naira and land without expecting a return ¹. He questioned the idea that the government shouldn’t make money, asking how services would be provided without funds.
By paying taxes, Nigerians can contribute to the government’s ability to provide essential services. As Wike put it, “Everybody will go home smiling” when investors and the government benefit from partnerships ¹.
