Piracy: Funke Akindele Warns Fans Against Recording Ahead of Movie Release

Nollywood star and filmmaker Funke Akindele has expressed serious concerns about the growing menace of piracy in the film industry as she issues a stern warning to fans.

Ahead of the December 13 release of her new movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, Funke took to social media to rally Nigerians to join the fight against piracy. In her impassioned post, she called out the practice of recording videos at cinemas, labeling it an act of piracy that undermines the industry.

“SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!” she wrote.

The actress shed light on the extensive effort and resources invested in her latest project, emphasizing the damaging impact piracy has on the livelihoods of filmmakers and the industry as a whole.

Funke also revealed heightened security measures to combat piracy during her movie’s release, warning that offenders caught engaging in illegal activities would face arrest.

Her message serves as a rallying cry for audiences to support the Nigerian film industry by saying no to piracy and respecting the hard work of creatives.
