In a bold statement made at the Inter-denominational Church Thanksgiving Service in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, declared that he won’t compromise his values by donating his kidney or liver to prove loyalty to anyone. This assertion appears to be a response to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who recently accused Fubara of disloyalty.

Fubara emphasized his commitment to standing by his principles, stating, “I will stand there. I don’t need anybody to stand with me. I cannot give my kidney or liver to anybody, I won’t. If that is the only reason for me to be loyal, I will not be. But, I will not do the wrong thing. I will stand for the side of right.”

It’s worth noting that liver donation is a significant medical procedure, and individuals can donate part of their liver to help those in need ¹. However, Fubara’s statement highlights the importance of prioritizing personal values and integrity over external pressures.

The event, held at St. Paul’s Cathedral of the Anglican Communion, was part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Celebration. Fubara’s message resonated with the audience, emphasizing the need for leaders to remain steadfast in their commitment to doing what is right, even in the face of adversity.
