The Dubai Police headquarter, has published a video revealing how they tracked and apprehended popular Cyber-Hacker and fraudster, Hushpupi and his cybercrime squad.
The exercise by the Dubai Police, which was called “Operation Fox Hunt 2” took the outfits less than 4 months to unveil the fraudster and 12 other gang members.
After months of investigating and monitoring the gang social media accounts, a team of highly trained Dubai police and Interpol officers were able to confirm the gang whereabouts and fraudulent activities .
6 raids were carried out simultaneously by the Dubai police department and Interpol while the suspects were sleeping in their various apartments.
Hushpupi and his team of scammers were known for creating fake pages on existing websites in other to redirect victims payment into their own accounts.
Dubai police and Interpol also found Hushpupi and his gang specialised in hacking corporate emails and sending fake messages to clients in other to redirect financial transfers and people bank details into their own accounts.
Before they were arrested, Hushpupi and cybercrime squad duped and defrauded over 1.9 million (1,926, 400) victims.
Their cybercrime squad was involved in $435.6 million (AED1.6 billion) scams.
On the day of his arrest, Hushpupi and his cybercrime squad was found with items worth more than $485 million (AED150 million) after they claim 21 laptops (computers), 47 smartphones, 15 flash drives, and 5 hard drives containing 119, 580 files.
Additionally, 13 luxurious cars worth over $6.84 (AED25 million).
