The fatal crash occurred on the night of Thursday, April 9, 2026, involving a Sienna bus transporting passengers from Bekwarra Local Government Area to Calabar. The victims were reportedly on their way to attend UNICAL’s 38th convocation ceremony, which took place on April 10.
According to reports by CrossRiverWatch, the accident claimed multiple lives, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries. A Facebook user, Odey Matthias Ojeka, also confirmed the incident, noting the severity of the crash.
Eyewitnesses revealed that good Samaritans quickly responded to the scene, assisting in the rescue of survivors and transporting them to nearby medical facilities for urgent care.
Gloria Ajor has since been laid to rest, with her burial taking place on Saturday, April 11.
