Again, unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Mr. Defwan Dariye, the father of Joshua Dariye, Former governor of Plateau State.
The victim had suffered same fate before now in the month of February 2015 where he was kidnapped from his house but luckily got rescued by the vigilante group at Nasarawa-Plateau border.
Bulus Gambo, a resident of the community, confirmed that the gunmen went to his residence at Mushere in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state and took away Pa Dariye, an old man of over 90 years, to an unknown destination in the early hours of Thursday
A family source revealed that about seven gunmen arrived into the residence of the old man, held those in the house hostage for about 10 minutes then they took him away.
Magit Mangut Mafiyai, an aide to the Local government Chairman asserted the fact saying:
“The executive Chairman Bokkos LGA, Hon. Yusuf Mahanan Machen, was at the residence of Sentor Joshua Chibi Dariye in Horop Mushere chiefdom yesterday (Thursday) to console with them over the kidnap of their father, Pa Defwan Dariye, who was kidnapped from his residence.
“The chairman was there to console the family on behalf of the entire LGA and has asked them to continue to pray, assuring that the Lord Almighty will never forsake them.”
However, Ubah Ogaba, a police officer assured that security agents are doing all they can to ensure he is rescued.
According to Ogaba, “As soon as we got the information, the Commissioner of Police led other officers to Bokkos. The security team detailed to go after the abductors have already swung into action and we hope the victim will be released soon.”
