Bamidele Alli Fined ₤50,000 By FA, Suspended For Making Fun Of The Pandemic.
Tottenham Midfielder Bamidele Alli has been given a one match suspension in addition to a ₤50,000 fine by the Football Association as a result of a video of him on Snapchat making fun of the coronavirus outbreak and making mockery of an Asian man.
The following day, Dele apologized for his actions in Weibo, a Chinese Social media platform, saying he let himself and his club down and shouldn’t have made such an expensive joke
In response to the verdict by FA, Bamidele, in his own words said,
In response to the FA decision, I would like to apologize again for any offence caused by my actions on February 6. It was an extremely poorly judged joke about a virus that has now affected us more than we could have ever imagined.
I am grateful that FA has confirmed that my actions were not racist because I despise racism of any kind. We all need to be mindful of the words and actions we use and how they can be perceived by others.
The result of the verdict will cost Dele the Match with Manchester United coming up June 19.
