President Muhammadu Buhari met with Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo at the presidential villa on Sunday night.

Bashir Ahmad, a presidential aide, announced the meeting in a tweet on Sunday but he did not give details of its outcome.

The meeting is coming a few days after Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo met with Nigerian traders in Ghana who complained about the hostile business environment in that country.

Nigerian traders in Ghana had raised the alarm over the closure of their shops.

Reacting to these developments, the federal government had said it would no longer tolerate the harassment of Nigerians in Ghana.

Lai Mohammed, minister of information, said in a statement in August, “Indications, especially in recent times are that Nigeria’s stance is now being taken for granted and its citizens being made targets of harassment and objects of ridicule, This will no longer be tolerated under any guise.”

Kojo Nkrumah, Ghanaian minister of information, reacted Nigeria has taken steps that affected its citizens as well, “These include the closure of Nigeria’s Seme Krake border from August 2019 to date and the issuance of executive orders by Nigeria’s Presidency, preventing foreigners from getting jobs which Nigerians can do, to mention a few.”
