In response to the rising tension in Jos, the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Security is set to hold a crucial peace dialogue today, bringing together key voices to address the crisis in Plateau State.

The decision comes on the heels of recent violence in the state capital, where coordinated attacks by gunmen reportedly spiraled into a wave of retaliatory clashes, deepening instability in the region.

Leading the initiative, Committee Chairman Wale Hammed emphasized the urgency of collective action, announcing a one-day security conference aimed at finding lasting solutions.

In an official invitation, the committee called on a wide range of stakeholders—including government officials, former governors, traditional rulers, security agencies, civil society groups, international partners, religious leaders, academics, and concerned citizens—to take part in the dialogue.

According to the statement, the gathering will focus on uncovering the root causes of the unrest while fostering practical, long-term strategies for peace.

The conference, themed “Restoring Stability and Unity: A Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Security in Plateau State and Beyond,” is designed to serve as an open platform for honest conversations, shared experiences, and collaborative problem-solving.

Participants are expected to propose actionable solutions that will strengthen unity, rebuild trust, and pave the way for sustained peace in Plateau State.

At the end of the session, a communiqué highlighting key resolutions and recommendations will be released—marking what many hope will be a turning point in efforts to restore calm and security in the region.
