Following the alarm raised by the People’s Democratic Party on Saturday May 16th on the whereabouts of the Chinese medics who came into the country early last month to help the Nigerian authorities in containing the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese embassy has affirmed that the foreign medics are not missing. A spokes person to the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Sun Saixiong, stated that the doctors were actively helping out in their duty posts to meet the mandate for which they came to Nigeria.
Explaining further Mr. Sun said that although the embassy was not directly involved in the operations and activities of the medics, it was fully aware of their various contributions towards the containment of the pandemic in Nigeria.
The 14 Chinese doctors were brought into Nigeria in April by one of its leading construction giants, CCECC in collaboration with the Federal Government with the aim of assisting Nigeria in preparing for the containment of the virus and also cater for thousands of the company’s workers spread across Nigeria.
