Churches Resume Sunday Service In Abuja And Other States As Govt Eases Lockdown.
Following the ban on religious gathering in Nigeria and worldwide as a result of the Covid19 pandemic, all churches, mosques and houses of prayer were completely shut down in the past weeks to curb the spread of coronavirus.
At a televised briefing on Monday June 1, the Chairman of Presidential Task Force, or PTF, on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha announced the relaxation of the ban placed on worship centers with certain conditions and strict adherence to public safety guidelines against the spread of coronavirus.
The PTF stated that under the new guidelines it recently released to ease the lockdown, worship centers will only be permitted to operate for a maximum of one hour each time they meet.
Furthermore, worshippers must wear face masks, maintain social distancing and properly wash or sanitize their hands before joining their congregation.
