COOU Becomes First University To Reopen Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Uli, Anambra State is the first university in the country to reopen despite the decision of the Federal Government on tertiary institutions to remain closed.

Dr. Mrs Ngozi Ezeibe, The Registrar of the University, on behalf of University management council announced the resumption of first year students of the university and final year students of College of Medicine.

The Registrar said in her statement that the resumption is only for the first year students to prepare for their first semester examination and the final year medicine students to write their mock examination in preparation for their final examination.

Ezeibe urged the year one and final year medicine students to observe all the COVID-19 pandemic regulations, especially the wearing of facemask, social and physical distancing and use of hand sanitisers.

She specified that new and final year medicine students are to be in school from August 20 to September 3. She added that students are expected to go home after writing their papers as they are only coming back to the campus to write their first semester examination, while they await the official date of resumption of schools from the Federal Government.
