#EndSARS: Amnesty International Says Atleast 12 Protesters Were Killed in Lekki, Alausa Shootings

Amnesty International, a human rights organisation headquartered in London has revealed via it’s own investigation that the Nigerian Police and Army killed no fewer than 12 protesters and left many others injured as the peaceful demonstrations got heated 2 days ago which resulted to a shoot out by the Nigerian Military on unarmed protesters.

According to the organistion the killings took place at Lekki toll gate and Alausa area of Lagos respectively. Although this has been debunked by the Nigerian Military, strong evidences in form of live videos taken and shared on social media by #EndSARS protesters have proven otherwise.

Hospital reports also confirms the death of several protesters after the Nigerian Military opened fire on them while they assembled at the Lekki toll gate calling for an end in police brutality in Nigeria and prosecution of violent/killer officers. Video footage by eyewitnesses shows that the protesters were being shot at while singing Nigeria’s National Anthem and holding up the flag which later got soaked in blood.

Eyewitnesses at Alausa protest ground said they were attacked by a team of soldiers and policemen from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Unit at about 8:00 pm, leaving at least two people dead and one critically injured.

Despite the above reports and evidences provided by eyewithnesses, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu after visiting several hospitals were the victims were taken to reported on Wednesday, 21st October that no fatality was recorded at the Lekki shootings.
