George Flyod’s Murder Suspect, Derek Granted Bail of $1.25m.

The Minneapolis ex-police officer, Derek Chauvin accused of killing unarmed black man, George Floyd has been granted a bail fee of $1.25m.

Prosecutors cited the “severity of the charges” and public outrage as the reason behind his bail increase upping from $1m – $1.25m.

Derek faces charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter. Three other arresting officers are charged with aiding and abetting murder.

Mr Floyd’s death encounter with the police on May 25 and subsequent death led to worldwide protests against racial prejudice and police brutality as demonstrations demand police reform.

Derek Chauvin, the white ex-police officer was seen in a video kneeling on Mr Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes while he was being arrested in Minneapolis, an event which eventually led to the death of Mr. Floyd.

He and the three other police officers have since been fired.
