Iran has announced it will execute a man it says helped the US assassinate its top general, Qassem Soleimani.

A judiciary spokesman said an Iranian citizen provided information about Soleimani’s whereabouts to the US’s CIA and Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

Iran’s most powerful military commander, General Qasem Soleimani, was killed by a US air strike in Iraq in the month of January 2020.
The 62-year old spearheaded Iranian military operations in the Middle East as head of Iran’s elite Quds Force.

He was killed at Baghdad airport, alongside local Iran-backed militias in a strike ordered by US President Donald Trump.
