JUST IN: Ebonyi State Governor and Some of His Aides Test Positive for COVID-19

Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi state has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. This was confirmed by the Governor in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, July 4.

The governor said that him and some of his aides carried out the test earlier and the result came back positive. He said they are presently asymptomatic however they have since gone into isolation in line with directives of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He also handed over the frontline coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic to protect Ebonyi people to the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe

He urged the residents of the state to take the NCDC guidelines more seriously while stating that he’s working from home and will conduct all meetings virtually.

Currently, Ebonyi state has 438 confirmed cases of Coronavirus. 357 persons have been successfully treated while three have died.
