An impromptu lockdown on Bonny Island and Onne of Rivers State to check the spread of coronavirus which made residents to be trapped without food or cash and have to exchange commodities to survive has been lifted.
The Rivers State Government decided to lift and ease the lockdown measures imposed on Bonny Local Government Area and Onne in Eleme Local Government Area with effect from 6a.m Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
The State government made a statement through Paulinus Nsirim, Commissioner for Information and Communications saying that Governor Nyesom Wike will make a state-wide broadcast to the people of the state on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
