Lockdown Ease: Henceforth Church Services Must Not Exceed One Hour – FG
Following the relaxation of the ban on religious gathering announced on June 1 by the Presidential Task Force on Covid19, the Federal Government has rolled out guideline of the re-opening of places of worship across the country.
The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, stated on Tuesday at the daily PTF briefing that duration of each church service must not be more than hour.
While stating resumption guidelines he said, “For churches, each service should be for a maximum of an hour with an interval of thirty minutes in between services to allow time for disinfection.”
The national coordinator added that the stated guideline is also applicable to Muslim worshippers during Friday prayers in mosques.
“Mosques may open 15 minutes before and ten minutes after prayers. The total time for Friday prayers should not exceed an hour.
“Islamiya schools, Sunday schools, night vigils, and children classes are to remain suspended.
“Worshippers should be encouraged to sign up for preferred worship and make the option of virtual service an option.
Lastly he stressed that there should be no gatherinhg either during or after worship hours and all business outlets within the premises should remain closed.
