REMINISCE OPENS UP ON MUSIC INDUSTRY REALITIES: “NOBODY IS YOUR FRIEND”
Nigerian rapper Reminisce shared candid insights into the music industry, stressing the importance of setting boundaries as an artist.
In an interview with Naija FM, Reminisce emphasized that success attracts people with ulterior motives.
“Fame is a drug that clouds judgment,” he said. “I realized early on that nobody is my friend.”
Reminisce attributed his guarded approach to past experiences, stating:
“If someone worked with me and we had issues, it was because I made my decision and stood by it… At the end of the day, I’ll suffer the consequences.”
He highlighted the tendency for people to turn against artists when their interests aren’t monetarily favored:
“Humans turn you into an enemy if they aren’t favored, especially monetarily.”
Reminisce’s words serve as a cautionary tale for emerging artists, underscoring the importance of discernment and self-preservation in the cutthroat music industry.
