Val Obienyem, media adviser to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has denied reports that Obi and his wife were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at their Anambra State home.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Obienyem described the rumors as “false and baseless.” He noted that the rumors first surfaced on Saturday but were promptly refuted, yet continued to spread.

Obienyem clarified that Obi was not even in Anambra State at the time of the alleged incident, as he was attending engagements in Rwanda. He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is involved in party and national matters.

The statement also denied rumors of Obi’s wife being arrested, calling it a “fabrication” aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary panic among supporters.

Obienyem urged the public to disregard the false information and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation. He assured that any official communication regarding Obi will be released through proper channels.
