A tragic accident claimed the lives of a driver and nine passengers in Yanfari village, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, on Monday night, November 11, 2024. The crash involved a Toyota Hummer bus and a parked trailer along the Kano-Hadejia Road.
According to DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, spokesperson for the State Police Command, the accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. when a Toyota Hummer bus, driven by Sani Mainasara from Hadejia LGA, collided with a stationary trailer. The impact caused the bus to overturn, killing the driver and nine of the 11 passengers on board.
Following the incident, a patrol team from the Taura Division arrived to assist, transporting the victims to Hadejia General Hospital, where a doctor confirmed the deaths. The sole surviving passenger is currently receiving treatment at Majia Primary Health Care Centre and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
