“I Worked at a Mortuary So My Children Could Eat” – Patience Ozokwor Shares Struggles

Renowned Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has opened up about the sacrifices she made to support her family before achieving stardom in the entertainment industry.

Speaking during the pre-premiere dinner of Funke Akindele’s much-anticipated movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, the veteran actress shared deeply personal insights into her challenging journey and praised Akindele for her resilience and dedication.

Recalling her struggles, Mama G revealed she once worked at a mortuary to ensure her children could eat and attend school.

“I went through thick and thin to become who I am today. I used to go to the mortuary to dress dead bodies so my children could go to school and eat. I did a lot of things to make my family what they are today,” she said.

Her story highlighted her unwavering determination to provide for her family, earning her deep respect within her community.

“In my own place, they appreciate me a lot because they saw me through all these things,” she added.

Mama G lauded Funke Akindele for her strength and resilience, drawing parallels between their journeys.

“When I see Funke, I look at myself. She’s a replica of who I am. Funke Akindele is a very strong woman. I love strong women. I am a strong woman,” she said.

Her words resonated with the audience, reflecting the bond and mutual respect between the two Nollywood icons.
