Amazon today launched an artificial intelligence-based tracking system to enforce social distancing at its offices and warehouses to help reduce any risk of contracting Covid-19 among its workers.
The past few months, Amazon has faced labour risks after workers at dozens of its locations were infected with COVID-19.
This AI-based tech will help in monitoring the health of its staff as monitors will be set up in the company’s warehouses which will highlight workers keeping a safe distance in green circles, while workers who are closer will be highlighted in red circles, Amazon said.
The AI-based tech was unveiled today as the world’s largest online retailer faces intensifying scrutiny from US lawmakers and unions over whether it is doing enough to protect staff from the pandemic.
