APC In A Survival Of The Fittest.

In what seems like the final battle and the survival of the fittest among the major contenders in the ruling party, the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom, has canceled the screening for the Edo state governorship primary shortly after declaring himself Chairman of the ruling party.

Giadom went on to reverse Governor Obaseki’s disqualification by the party screening committee.

This comes shortly after the Court of Appeal sitting in FCT, Abuja on Tuesday, June 16, confirmed the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as a member and national chiarman of the party.

Meanwhile, following Oshiomhole’s suspension, it was gathered that the party elevated Abiola Ajimobi to serve as its acting national chairman.

In a statement signed by party spokesman, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Tuesday, the APC said its National Working Committee (NWC) had been guided by the party’s legal department in line with the provisions of its constitution.

“According to section 14.2. (iii), of the APC constitution, the deputy national chairman, north/south ‘Shall act as the national chairman in the absence of the national chairman from his zone,” the statement said.

Ajimobi is the current party’s deputy national chairman for the southern region and is a former governor of Oyo state.

It has become a tug of war and survival of the fittest in APC as both Giadom and Ajimobi are claiming to be the rightful chairman of the party.
