Catholic Bishop: Covid19 Will Unmask Money-Making Pastors.

An Archbishop of Abuja diocese, Ignatius Kaigama said the Coronavirus pandemic will determine those who are true men of God and those that have turned the church system into a money making venture.

At the peak of the global health emergency, the Federal and State Authorities placed a ban on social and religious gatherings to curb the spread of Covid-19. A decision which has since met with stiff criticism.

Speaking with PUNCH, the Archbishop said pastors could still achieve their ultimate goal which is to lead people to Christ irrespective of the current world situation.

Kaigama said any cleric in the church whose goal is to amass wealth is not called of God.

According to him, “This is the time to know who are true shepherds of the flock and those who are just engaged in work of religion in order to amass wealth for themselves or to acquire wealth and prosperity”.

“If you’re a pastor or a priest in order to serve the people and lead them to heaven, then whether coronavirus is active or not, you will still go on to do that.

“But if you are a pastor or priest in order to acquire material wealth, in order to enjoy prosperity, then, I’m sorry, you’re not called by God. You’re a businessman or businesswoman and not a priest or pastor.
