Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has a message for his predecessor, Nyesom Wike: let go of the need to control the state and allow peace to reign. Fubara’s plea comes after conducting local government elections despite resistance from Wike’s supporters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) ¹.
Fubara emphasized that he’s done everything in his power to maintain peace, even kneeling to beg for the issue to be resolved. He believes it’s time for Wike to release his grip on the state, recognizing that “you don’t necessarily need to win all the fights” ¹.
The governor’s appeal extends to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, urging everyone to put aside their differences and work towards securing the state. Fubara acknowledged Wike’s past accomplishments as governor but stressed that it’s time for support, not destruction ¹.
