Just In: Obaseki Joins PDP

Following Governor Obaseki’s recent crisis with APC, the much-anticipated news has finally come as Obaseki legally joins the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

PDP led by the state chairman, Hon Tony Aziegbemi received Obaseki with open arms as he arrived the party’s state Secretariat office.

Obaseki had on Tuesday announced his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after failing to win the support of party leaders including the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, who had been at war with him over the control of political affairs in Edo.

Following Obaseki’s resignation, the Oba of Benin released a statement today, June 18, as he says “No To Godfatherism In Edo State”.

The Oba of Benin in his statement advises that in order to eschew recurrent socio-political conflict that seems to constantly ravish the state, the Edo politically actors must eradicate the twin evil political voices of “Godfathersism and Consensus Candidacy”.
