Ondo 2020: Jegede Wins PDP Primaries, As Deputy Governor Loses Out
A former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, has emerged winner of the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which held on Wednesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The winner of the primaries was announced by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi of Enugu State, who is also the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee.
With the outcome of the primaries, Jegede will be the major challenger of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who won the APC primaries on Monday in the October 10, 2020 State governorship election.
The election was held at the main, auditorium of the International Event Centre, Akure, the Ondo State capital. The accreditation of the delegates began around 10am while the delegates started to cast their votes around 2pm. The counting of votes ended around 12am Today.
After the voting by the 2111 delegates from the 18 local government areas of the state, Jegede emerge the winner.
Below is a breakdown of the votes polled,
1. Mr Eyitayo Jegede defeated other contestants having polled 888 votes.
2. Mr Agboola Ajayi, The deputy governor of the state, polled 657 votes
3. Dr Eddy Olafeso, The PDP National Vice Chairman, polled 175 votes.
4. Dr Bode Ayorinde polled 95 votes
5. Mr Banji Okunomo polled 90
6. Senator Boluwaji Kunlere polled 33 votes
7. Sola Ebiseni pulled 29 votes
8. Godday Erewa polled 13 votes.
