The Governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi has declared no more mercy for rape convicts following the increased rate of sexual violence in the state and in the nation in recent weeks.

The Governor has also signed the mandatory treatment and care for Minors who are victims of sexual incontinence as a law while declaring the no plea order for the culprits in the states capital.

Kayode Fayemi who is also the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum has pledged to ensure to use his position as an advantage to have other Governors declare a state of emergency in their respective states against this indecency of rape as the negative effects on the victims are beyond what one state government can suppress alone.

In his words, the Governor said, ‘The Ministry of Justice is further directed to reaffirm state policy of opposing bail and rejecting plea bargain proposals from perpetrators of rape and child abuse”.

The existing laws are being reviewed to ensure that offenders suffer a commensurate physical punishment for the crime they have committed in the state and in the nation. “Hardly a day goes without a case of rape or child abuse in the State of Ekiti said the Governor”.
