We Did Not Arrest EFCC Acting Chairman – DSS
The Department of State Services (DSS) has dispelled the media reports saying that it arrested Mr Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
This was disclosed on Monday in a statement made by Peter Afunanya, the Service’s Public Relations Officer.
The statement titled; “OFFICIAL: Dagu is Not Arrested by DSS” stated; “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.”
“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”
Ibrahim Magu’s S.A. on Media, Tony Amokeodo, when contacted said that his boss was not arrested but was just invited to a Federal Government panel to answer questions regarding the allegations of corruption leveled against him.
However, Mr Dele Oyewale, a spokesperson for EFCC, has clarified the controversy surrounding Magu’s invitation in a statement.
The statement says:
