Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The meeting marks another sign of Zuckerberg’s apparent outreach to the president-elect ahead of Trump’s second term.

In a statement shared with CNN, a Meta spokesperson said, “It’s an important time for the future of American innovation. Mark was grateful for the invitation to join President Trump for dinner and the opportunity to meet with members of his team about the incoming administration.”

While the details of their conversation remain undisclosed, the meeting comes amidst reports that Zuckerberg has been in contact with Trump in recent months. According to The New York Times, Zuckerberg praised Trump in July after surviving an assassination attempt, describing the former president’s resilience as “one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The relationship between the two has been fraught in the past. In a book published earlier this year, Trump accused Zuckerberg of “plotting” against him during previous elections and issued a stark warning: “If he does anything illegal this time, he will spend the rest of his life in prison, as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

Speaking on Fox News, Trump adviser Stephen Miller confirmed the meeting, adding that Zuckerberg expressed interest in supporting the “global reform movement” Trump claims to lead. “He has been very clear about his desire to participate in the change sweeping across America and the world,” Miller stated.

The high-profile dinner adds to the intrigue surrounding Trump’s second term agenda and the potential role big tech leaders may play in shaping its policies.
